Ground Engineering, the magazine for the geotechnical and foundations sector, has published a project feature on the Holmfirth Town Centre Access Plan and the piling work we carried out there with contractor CR Reynolds. It ran on 1 October 2026.
The feature starts with the scheme itself: a £10.3 million partnership between Kirklees Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to reduce congestion, give priority to sustainable transport and make the town centre easier to reach for residents, businesses and visitors. It then turns to the piling for the new café and bridge, where 600mm and 750mm contiguous piles had a 1.5m crop section and ten 40mm bars in each cage.
Much of the piece is about how the two companies worked together. CR Reynolds told our team what configuration each run of piles needed and reset the cropper on site, while we visited regularly to check progress. "CR Reynolds' attitude throughout enabled us to provide the right and most effective solution," says our sales director, Scott Fitchett.
Read the feature on the Ground Engineering website, or read our own account of the job: NPC helps CR Reynolds deliver £10.3m Holmfirth town centre scheme. Ground Engineering also covered the launch of our Pre-Cast 400 in July, which is in our press round-up.
