Earthmovers Magazine has reported on the pile cropping we carried out with CR Reynolds on the £10.3 million Holmfirth town centre scheme in West Yorkshire. The article was published on 28 September 2026.
The magazine concentrates on the equipment and the site. It explains how our CFA cropper was set up for 600mm and 750mm contiguous piles, how a half link changes its size in 100mm steps, and how it was used with an NPC lifting frame.
It also describes what the crew had to work around: large, uneven piles set close together, a river that meant a different excavator on each bank, and cylinders that had to be moved or removed so the cropper would fit between piles. Our sales director, Scott Fitchett, is quoted on trying different setups with the CR Reynolds team until the piles could be cropped at a rate of 10 to 15 a day.
