A417 Missing Link scheme in Gloucestershire
We are proud to support the construction of the £460 million A417 Missing Link scheme in Gloucestershire, a transformative project designed to improve connectivity between dual carriageway sections of the A417 at Brockworth and Cowley.
This critical infrastructure initiative, led by Kier on behalf of National Highways, represents a significant step forward for road users and local communities.
To meet the challenging demands of the project, we at National Pile Croppers have supplied our state-of-the-art hydraulic pile cropping technology, including our latest 1.5m diameter Heavy Duty (HD) CFA Cropper. Specifically designed for efficiency, safety, and versatility, this equipment handles augured piles ranging from 300mm to 2,000mm in diameter. The improved design of the HD CFA Cropper ensures minimal downtime, robust performance under tight timelines, and exceptional safety standards, making it the go-to solution for large diameter pile cropping.
As part of this scheme, the project includes a series of new bridges and crossings, such as the Gloucestershire Way, Cowley Overbridge, and Stockwell Farm Overbridge. These structures will help alleviate congestion, enhance connectivity, and support regional ambitions for more homes and jobs.
Our pile croppers play a vital role in preparing and managing the concrete piles required for these works, ensuring precision and reliability on-site.
Not only have our cutting-edge tools performed exceptionally in this development, but they have also impressed project stakeholders, leading to further applications of our technology in contiguous and secant pile projects. For these tasks, our QXXL and Quad Large Croppers have demonstrated their unmatched ability to make clean cuts consistently, thanks to their four powerful, synchronised rams and specially designed blades.
Each cropped section is safely transported to designated areas, ensuring seamless workflow and safety throughout the process.
At National Pile Croppers, we remain committed to providing industry-leading solutions backed by a dedicated technical team. We are excited to continue supporting the A417 scheme and other future projects, showcasing the innovation and expertise that make us industry leaders in the pile cropping field.
This landmark project is due for completion by 2027, with the entire road handed back to National Highways by 2028, and we’re honoured to play such a key role in its success.
